Services Offered

 

I cover Southern New Hampshire, north and central Massachusetts.

My services include trims, hot shoeing, aluminum shoeing, indirect and direct glue on shoeing, and repairs. Therapeutic and Remedial cases are welcome in my practice.

 

Trimming:

I offer trims on all types of horses and can accommodate both therapeutic and routine cases.

Composite Shoeing

There are many great performance and therapeutic alternative options to steel and aluminum available today.

Glue on Shoeing

Glue on shoes are available in a wide range of styles including direct and indirect/ cuffed modalities. In most cases I prefer to use cuffed shoes temporarily as they tend to compromise hoof wall integrity over time.

 

 

Hot and Cold Steel Shoeing:

I primarily use pre-manufactured shoes which are heated and shaped to each foot. Existing patterns can be modified to address a wide variety of concerns.

I prefer to hot fit whenever possible for many reasons I’m happy to discuss. I offer fits for a range of disciplines and lameness or performance concerns.

Optional additional products and materials include leather and synthetic pads, pour-in pads, dental impression material, closed-cell foam pads, and treatment plates.

Remedial shoeing for a jumper with caudal pain and intermittent lameness.

Modified onion heels, Bar Wedge Pad, Impression Material, Extra Soft Pour Pads.

Aluminum Shoeing

I prefer to use some type of pad with aluminum to protect the foot from the concussion and abrasion caused by aluminum and the associated ground reaction forces. The same list of optional products and materials for steel shoeing can also be applied with aluminum. The type of shoe selected will depend on the soundness and performance concerns for each horse.

Casting and Repairs

Acrylic and urethane based adhesives can be used to rebuild hoof wall for cosmetic and remedial purposes. I also offer hoof casting which can be used with or without acrylic glue.

 Studs

Traction studs are necessary in New England for all horses in winter shoes. I offer drive in studs in several sizes. For performance traction I provide drilling and tapping.
